The goal of the International Understanding Foundation (IUF) is to create and promote activities in favor of polit- ical, economic, and cultural freedom. Cuevas founded the IUF as a conceptual structure that can be rendered as a physical structure to execute collaborations and public exhibitions that explore the social impact of aes- thetic practices. The project was first presented at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, Germany. It then moved to the Ciudad Juárez–El Paso border with its Migratory project in 2020. IUF is rooted in internationalism as part of a political movement that today—with racist violence and economic discrimination—is increasingly in need of revision. The project continues to function as a conceptual structure that takes on its material form by drawing from the context where it is hosted and the participation that is brought about at each location.
