During the processes of conquest of the American continent, European colonizers produced a visual record of the region’s natural environments. In their chronicles, the scales of these illustrations are often disproportionate. In this piece, participants can see the enlarged drawings of various plant species in a mural. The artist shows not only this error in representation but also the current relevance of this past that continues to operate in international relations between colonized countries and the leading economic powers. Another reference in the mural’s graphics is the old Monsanto and Syngenta logos, representing large monopolies of transgenic seeds. The mural opens with a big salad of “exotic” fruits purchased at local supermarkets.
