This piece was created as part of a campaign in which a sticker that is commonly found on fruit was modified. It has been presented as a mural, silkscreen prints, and as an intervention on the fruit sold in supermarkets. Most transnational banana corporations originated from the United Fruit Company (which later became Del Monte). During the twentieth century, this corporation constituted a determining political and economic force in many Latin American countries (the so-called “banana republics”), where it had a decisive influence over the governments and political parties to maintain its operations with the highest possible profit margins.
